FAQs

  • Please email info@dressedupdreams.com or fill in the contact form to indicate interest. We will get back to you within 2 working days with a short questionnaire about your measurements and preferences. When the outfits and session details have been agreed on, a deposit of 50% will be required to confirm the booking. The remainder should be paid on the day of the photoshoot.

  • Drop us a note to inquire, letting us know your measurements and preferred colours. We will send you pictures of recommended outfits and hair styles. It would also be helpful if you could send us a picture of yourself so that we can propose a style which will complement your features and personality. Good communication is essential to ensure the best results!

  • Shoulder-length hair would be ideal for ladies. The shortest length we can work with would be hair reaching the chin area (not layered), as your real hair will be wrapped around the wigs and hairpieces to create a more natural look. If your hair has been dyed a vibrant non-natural colour, we will not be able to do traditional hairstyles for you due to the colour mismatch with our wigs, unless you are willing to temporarily spray it black for the session.

For men, period-appropriate hats and headgear will be provided.

  • Yes you may, but kindly send us a photo of your outfit for confirmation. We do not photograph drama costumes, cosplay outfits, knockoffs, or styles of Chinese dress that are not a good fit with our artistic vision.

  • Most of the time, people only have compliments to give, and there are hardly any intrusions by passers-by. If you think you would feel more comfortable in a private setting, it’s recommended that you try our studio sessions instead.

  • Colour editing entails broad changes to the colours and lighting in the photo (e.g. hue/saturation, contrast, brightness etc.), which are essential to mood creation. Fine editing will include more detailed treatment of the subject (skin retouching, slimming etc.) as well as the removal / correction of distracting elements in the photo and refinement of its technical qualities.

  • Please let us know as soon as possible. We can reschedule if notice is given three weeks before the shoot date agreed upon, subject to availability of slots. Charges may apply if the notice period is shorter than three weeks due to holding fees for the studio and make up artists.

  • No. The raw photo is merely half of the final product; post-production is equally important as well. We wish to present you with work that fully represents our style and brand. This is especially so for ancient style photography, which aims to evoke a certain kind of mood in each image instead of striving for realism.

  • Most of the time, showers and thunderstorms in Singapore pass quickly. Even though it may be raining at the start, the weather may be sunny again by the time your hair style and makeup are complete. However, we can discuss and decide whether the session should be postponed if bad weather has been predicted for the entire day, or if the shoot location is particularly unforgiving with little shelter (e.g. Coney Island / Xiaoguilin). We will contact you at least 2h before the session to discuss whether we should proceed. Decisions made will be based on information provided by NEA and other weather forecasting sites.

  • Please let us know your concerns as soon as possible upon receiving the photos. In some situations, we may re-edit the photos at no extra charge, especially since differences in monitor calibration may affect the way the colours look.

However, to avoid unhappiness, please have a look at our portfolio prior to booking, and only proceed if you like our editing and photographic style.

  • Prices quoted are non-negotiable - we only charge for the value we believe our work provides. Our annual promotional period is 11.11, where selected packages will be on offer, with special discounts for returning customers. Seasonal mini-sessions will also be scheduled occasionally - watch out for these on our social media platforms if you wish to try out a shorter photoshoot experience.

  • Yes. To keep our packages affordable, prints and products are sold as add-ons. We provide album layout designing services as well; please email us if you are keen to find out what products we offer.

  • You will receive a link to a Dropbox folder or online gallery containing the high-res images. You can download the images to your own device from there.

  • You will receive the colour-edited photos 2-3 weeks from the photoshoot session. The fine-edited images will be complete another 2-3 weeks after the photos have been selected. Kindly inform us if you need your photos by a specific date.

  • For most photo sessions, we will be using a Sony A7r4 and 24-70mm or 85mm lens. For studio work, equipment used depends on the needs of the session and we use a range of lighting from Godox / Nanlight LEDs to Godox / Profoto strobes.

  • Sessions are by appointment only. We do not have a physical storefront or staff on site to attend to walk-ins. Do drop us an enquiry if you would like to schedule a visit!

  • According to current policies, we will only be able to accept fully vaccinated clients. We highly recommend doing an ART self-test before coming, especially since you will be unmasking for the photoshoot session. Our MUAs and photographer also undergo regular testing.

Every effort has been made to use disposable applicators for makeup, and tools, dresses and props are laundered and cleaned after each customer.

Do note that these practices might change in accordance with the latest guidelines.
